In May 2016, the Kenyan Ministry of Health, through the National AIDS & STI Control Programme (NASCOP), released: its updated “Guidelines on use of antiretroviral drugs for treating and preventing HIV infection in Kenya”; and its practical handbook for HIV managers and service providers on differentiated care, entitled “Improving the quality and efficiency of health services in Kenya”.
The ART guidelines for Kenya include differentiated care basic package components for well and advanced HIV clients in the first year on ART and ART delivery for stable and unstable patients in later years.
The practical handbook gives service providers examples of differentiated care models from Kenya and the region to guide in designing their own context-appropriate models.
