DSD for HIV treatment and prevention explainer videos: standard operating procedures, common adaptations for specific populations, DSD for clients re-engaging in HIV care and DSD for PrEP
This video series, developed by IAS – the International AIDS Society, outlines the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the four common models for differentiated service delivery (DSD) for HIV treatment and common adaptations for specific populations. It also presents DSD for clients re-engaging in HIV care and DSD for pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP).
DSD is a client-centred approach that simplifies and adapts HIV services across the cascade, in ways that both serve the needs of people living with HIV better and reduce unnecessary burdens on the health system.
Recent innovations in DSD for HIV treatment for clients who are established on antiretroviral therapy (ART) can be described in four categories:
- Group models managed by healthcare workers;
- Group models managed by clients;
- Individual models based at facilities; and
- Individual models not based at facilities.
